General English carries 10 marks, while the new Ethics, Morality and Values section also carries 10 marks.

SNAP exam pattern for general english

General English carries 10 questions for 10 marks in SNAP 2026. This is lower than the 15 questions included in the earlier SNAP exam pattern.

Candidates preparing for this section should focus on language usage, verbal ability, and comprehension-based questions.

  • Number of questions: 10
  • Total marks: 10
  • Marks per correct answer: 1
  • Broad areas include verbal ability, verbal reasoning, and reading comprehension
  • The section accounts for about 16.7% of the total SNAP questions

SNAP pattern for quantitative, data interpretation & data sufficiency

Quantitative, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency contains 20 questions. The number of questions in this section has not changed from the previous SNAP paper pattern.

Candidates can expect questions that test numerical ability, data interpretation, and the ability to work with the information provided.

  • Marks per correct answer: 1
  • Questions test analytical thinking and logical reasoning
  • The section contributes around 33.3% of SNAP total marks

SNAP pattern for ethics, morality and values

Ethics, Morality and Values is the major addition to the SNAP exam pattern 2026. The new section contains 10 questions carrying one mark each.

SIU has confirmed the section and its question distribution. However, the official SNAP test structure does not currently provide a detailed topic-wise syllabus for this new section.

SNAP marking scheme 2026

The SNAP marking scheme is simple. Candidates receive one mark for every correct answer, while every incorrect response results in a deduction of 25% of the marks assigned to that question.

Since every question carries one mark, SNAP 1/4 negative marking means 0.25 mark is deducted for each incorrect response. The SNAP exam marking scheme applies across all four sections.

Response Type Marks
Correct Answer +1 mark
Incorrect Answer -0.25 mark
Unattempted Question 0
Maximum Score 60 marks
Total Questions 60

SNAP exam pattern and syllabus 2026

The SNAP exam pattern and syllabus should be studied together because the pattern tells candidates how many questions come from each section, while the syllabus explains the areas that need to be prepared.

SNAP 2026 has four sections. Candidates should pay particular attention to the new Ethics, Morality and Values section because it was not part of the previous SNAP test pattern.

SNAP Section Main Areas to Prepare
General English Verbal Ability, Verbal Reasoning, Grammar, Vocabulary and Reading Comprehension
Analytical & Logical Reasoning Logical Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, Arrangements, Coding-Decoding and Puzzles
Quantitative, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Percentages, Ratios, Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency
Ethics, Morality and Values Ethics and value-based decision-making; candidates should check official updates for detailed topic-wise coverage

SNAP question paper pattern and difficulty level

The SNAP question paper pattern 2026 consists entirely of objective questions. Every question has four response options, and candidates have to select the appropriate answer.

The actual SNAP exam difficulty level 2026 can only be assessed after the tests are conducted in December. The difficulty may vary slightly between papers, although SIU uses a process intended to maintain a comparable spread and level of difficulty across the tests.

Section Questions Marks Preparation Focus
General English 10 10 Accuracy in verbal and language-based questions
Analytical & Logical Reasoning 20 20 Fast problem solving and question selection
Quantitative, DI & DS 20 20 Calculation speed and accuracy

How to prepare according to SNAP test pattern 2026

Candidates should change their preparation according to the revised SNAP test pattern 2026. Practising only the earlier three-section SNAP question paper pattern will leave out the new Ethics, Morality and Values component.

SNAP mock tests should also follow the current 60-question structure and the official SNAP marking scheme. Candidates should practise completing the entire paper within the SNAP exam duration of one hour.

  • Prepare all four sections instead of the older three-section structure.
  • Practise 60-question mock tests within 60 minutes.
  • Include the -0.25 negative marking while calculating mock scores.
  • Give adequate preparation time to the new Ethics, Morality and Values section.
  • Improve question selection because one wrong response reduces the score.
  • Practise SNAP sample papers and previous year question papers for speed.
  • Keep a few minutes available for reviewing marked questions.
  • Follow the latest updates on the official SNAP website.
