Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (IP University), Delhi, announces the establishment of a dedicated Indian Knowledge System (IKS) Centre. This new initiative aims to revive and promote traditional Indian learning methods, especially the ancient ‘guru-shishya parampara’, by integrating them into modern education.
The IKS Centre will focus on subjects such as Vedic mathematics, Ayurveda, Indian philosophy, Sanskrit, yoga, and classical arts. The university plans to organise regular lectures, workshops, and seminars to encourage students and faculty to explore India’s rich intellectual traditions. The centre also supports research in ancient texts and aims to connect traditional wisdom with contemporary knowledge systems.
Vice-Chancellor Mahesh Verma says that this step will help students understand India’s educational roots and values. He adds that the IKS Centre will serve as a bridge between the past and present, inspiring a holistic approach to education.
The university collaborates with experts and scholars from across the country to ensure an authentic and inclusive learning experience. The initiative aligns with the goals of the National Education Policy 2020.
