The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras launches the National Employability Benchmark Test and Analysis (NIPTA) initiative to evaluate and enhance internship and job readiness among students across India. The project aims to create a standardised employability benchmark for graduates and job seekers nationwide.
Developed by IIT Madras in collaboration with leading industry partners, NIPTA will assess critical skills such as problem-solving, communication, technical knowledge, and professional aptitude. The initiative is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations, ensuring that students are better prepared for internships and employment opportunities.
NIPTA will also help educational institutions and recruiters gain insights into talent readiness, allowing them to make data-driven decisions for training and hiring. IIT Madras plans to roll out the test nationwide, inviting universities, colleges, and students to participate.
The institute continues to take innovative steps to boost employability and skill development across India’s higher education landscape.
