IIT Kharagpur launches the Young Innovators’ Programme (YIP) for the academic year 2025–26, inviting school students to participate in a nationwide innovation and research challenge. The programme aims to nurture curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving skills among young learners by exposing them to real-world scientific and technological challenges.
Students from classes 8 to 12 can register as teams and submit innovative ideas in fields such as robotics, sustainability, AI, healthcare, and agriculture. IIT Kharagpur states that the initiative encourages early research thinking and helps students gain hands-on experience through workshops, mentoring sessions, and prototype development.
The 2025–26 edition includes multiple rounds, starting with idea submission, followed by shortlisting, virtual presentations, and a final on-campus event at IIT Kharagpur. Selected teams get guidance from IIT faculty and research scholars.
