IIM Ahmedabad and Novo Nordisk India have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly address the growing challenge of obesity in India and strengthen healthcare systems through collaborative research, education, and policy initiatives.
The partnership brings together IIM Ahmedabad’s expertise in public policy and healthcare management and Novo Nordisk’s global experience in tackling chronic diseases like obesity and diabetes. The MoU focuses on conducting joint research studies, developing data-driven policy recommendations, and creating awareness campaigns to address obesity as a critical public health issue.
Under this collaboration, both institutions will work on creating a knowledge-sharing platform involving healthcare professionals, government bodies, and patient advocacy groups. The goal is to develop actionable insights and strategies to combat obesity, especially in urban and semi-urban populations.
The initiative also aims to strengthen India’s healthcare infrastructure by identifying gaps in current systems and promoting evidence-based reforms. Educational programs and training modules are also part of the long-term plan to raise awareness and build capacity.
