The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the tentative schedule for the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations 2026. According to the schedule, both examinations were set to begin on February 17, 2026. CBSE also introduced two board examination opportunities for Class 10 students in 2026.
The first Class 10 board examination was scheduled from February 17, 2026, to March 6, 2026. The second examination was scheduled from May 15, 2026, to June 1, 2026. The second phase was optional for eligible students who wanted to improve their performance. If a student appeared in both examinations, the better score would be retained.
For Class 12, the board examinations were scheduled from February 17, 2026 to April 9, 2026. Around 45 lakh candidates were expected to appear in 204 subjects across Classes 10 and 12 from India and 26 countries abroad.
CBSE also stated that answer-script evaluation would generally begin about 10 days after each subject examination and would be completed within approximately 12 days. The tentative schedule was issued to help students, schools and teachers plan examination and evaluation activities.
