IIT Madras and SBI Foundation launch phase 2 of the Para-Athlete Sports Scholarship Programme. The initiative supports 80 Indian para-athletes across eight Paralympic disciplines. Applications remain open until August 9, 2026.
Each selected athlete receives a monthly scholarship of ₹40,000 for one year. The programme also provides sports science-based performance assessments, nutrition guidance, and personalised support.
Acrophase, the Centre of Excellence for Human Performance at IIT Madras, manages the scientific assessments and performance support. The scholarship supports 40 male and 40 female athletes across archery, athletics, badminton, judo, powerlifting, shooting, swimming, and taekwondo.
Indian para-athletes up to 35 years of age can apply when they represent their state or India in recognised national or international competitions and meet the selection requirements.
Phase 2 expands the programme after its first phase supports 26 athletes. Phase 1 athletes collectively record 70 medals in national and international competitions.
